EVEREST TREKKING CANADA PRESENTS
HASTEN SLOWLY
A memoir dedicated to the people of Nepal
The Himalayan people have given
us 25 years of lessons in courage, compassion and caring.
We offer hasten slowly, a book to raise funds for those living with disabilities in challenging environments.
Imagine living on a mountain slope in a donated wheel chair and your only door is too narrow to access the toilet outside. Imagine a child left behind as an uneducated burden because she is blind. We aim to help.
About the book
Hasten Slowly is a memoir describing the many treks led by one or the other or both of us, throughout Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet over twenty-five years. More than 700 like-minded adventurers, most ranging in age from 50 to 80 have come with Everest Trekking Canada to experience the finest hiking in the world. All returned home enriched not only by the scenery, but by the warm and generous nature of the people we all met along the way. It's 148 pages, beautifully illustrated with the best of our thousands of slides and photos.
Charities our book supports
Every cent of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be used to improve the lives of Nepali people. We have researched NGO charities where the funds go directly to the needs of the people. Through our contact with Uttam Phuyal and the Mountain People, a Norwegian charity, we will help build and furnish a school for the blind in the Kathmandu valley.

Ganja (pictured here) rolled into a kitchen fire when she was two. Now, fitted with prostheses, she is the director of the Hope Disability Centre in Gulmi, a remote area in central Nepal.
Wheelchairs have been donated to about 60 people in this area but houses need to be adapted. Entry doors need widening, thresholds removed and ground leveled to access beds and toilets. We plan to help!

The parent charity is mend.org.nz and the amazing Rob Buchanan is the director.
